Energy efficiency and energy saving are two words that have become more common in Ukraine due to the increase in energy prices over the past year. Regardless of the area of use, household or industrial, in order to save money, everyone is now trying to purchase equipment with the lowest energy consumption. In order for the consumer to be able to determine how efficiently the device uses energy resources, it is necessary to conduct a procedure for assessing the energy efficiency of the device and mark it with the appropriate sign.

Energy labeling has become an indispensable source of information when choosing equipment for buyers who prefer energy-saving devices.

Energy efficiency class labeling shows the efficiency of energy use by devices during their operation.

The energy efficiency class is labeled according to 7 main classes, from A (the lowest consumption) to G (the most energy-consuming), depending on the number of kW consumed by the equipment. After the product reaches energy efficiency class A, additional classes A +, A ++, A +++ are added

The following household appliances are subject to labeling:

  • refrigerators
  • freezers
  • air conditioners
  • monitors and printers
  • Microwave ovens
  • incandescent lamps, lighting equipment
  • washing machines
  • washing machines
  • televisions
  • heating appliances
  • boilers
  • copying equipment
  • electric hobs and ovens

Industrial equipment (pumps, heat exchangers, electric motors, generators, etc.) and road transport are also marked.

Marking may be required in the following cases:

1. Competitive advantage.

In the current situation with the increase in the cost of energy resources in the country, many consumers have begun to pay attention to the efficiency of household appliances. But when choosing equipment between domestic and foreign, as a rule, the choice falls on foreign, because all foreign equipment has an energy efficiency class marking, while domestic equipment does not, which leads the buyer to think about the low efficiency of domestic products.

2. Export of products to the EU.

The import of products with energy efficiency classes F and G is prohibited in EU countries. And without assigning an energy efficiency class, it is impossible to prove that the product corresponds to a class higher than F or G.

Energy efficiency certification consists of the following stages:

  • trial;
  • analysis of the data obtained;
  • certification decision;
  • factory control;
  • issuance of a permit to use the energy efficiency certification mark;
  • market monitoring.

The stages listed above are carried out by specialists of the certification center, and the manufacturer only provides all the necessary information.

"The import of products of energy efficiency classes F and G is prohibited in EU countries."

Energy efficiency in the European Union

According to the EU Commission Directives on Transport and Energy 92/75 / CEE, 95/12 / CE, 94/2 / CE, 2003/66 / CE, 96/89 / CE, etc., on most household appliances, passenger cars, light bulb packages, the key consumer characteristics of the product must be indicated on the energy efficiency label (DIRECTIVE 2009/125 / EC).

According to Directive 2010/30 / EU, both household and industrial equipment can be labeled with the energy efficiency class. The labeled label, in addition to the energy efficiency class, also contains information about the technical characteristics of the product depending on its type.

The following energy efficiency standards apply in Ukraine:

  • Technical regulations for labeling household lamps with regard to the efficiency of electricity consumption, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 27.12.2008 No. 1144.
  • Technical regulations for energy labeling of household refrigerators, freezers and their combinations, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 07.08.2013 No. 702.
  • Technical regulations for energy labeling of household washing machines, approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 07.08.2013 No. 702
  • Technical regulations for energy labeling of energy-consuming products, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 07.08.2013 No. 702.
  • Technical regulations for the maximum permitted electricity consumption of refrigeration appliances, approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 03.09.2008 No. 787
